Once upon a time, in a tiny town with only one stoplight, there lived a family who loved the open road. They loved to go anywhere they could, and traveling west was their absolute favorite direction to drive. So, they decided to saddle up the minivan, and ride into the sunset. Packing cameras, computers, and coffee cups, they pulled out of that tiny little town. Join in their adventures, because after all, they do have plenty of cupholders!
Seriously folks, this trip is something we have been planning for quite some time. We have seventeen days, and lots to see and learn as we go. On the "Map" page, you will find a rough draft of our route. There are a few proposed side trips not included on that map, because the length of seasons in higher elevations varies, we will have to inquire locally for road conditions. (To our mothers: Don't worry, we don't plan to run into any avalanches this trip like we did in Idaho last time.) When we travel, I generally keep a daily diary as we go on the computer. This time, we plan to upload that diary to the website each evening at our hotel. Hopefully we will be able to add some pictures and make you feel as though you are right there with us. I take A LOT of photos, so it won't be possible to put every one online, but I hope to be able to convert enough to web appropriate size images so we have a good sample each day. If we don't update one day... don't worry that a bear ate us or anything. If you are really worried, just call one of our cell phones! If we still don't answer, just remember reception is sometimes bad in remote areas.
Riah has been spending the last few months reading and learning about a number of the places we will visit. He is ready for his adventure. I love to make things we read about come alive for him!
Pray for our safety as we travel, and check back often to see where we are! Click on the links with in the commentary each day to see our photos.
We welcome you, our family and friends to ride along with us and we explore this great country.
