Gettysburg

Our Lincoln Highway Adventure took us first to the road headquarters in Ligonier, which was CLOSED! We drove up the road, and took some family pictures near the turn off off for Linn Run State Park.

These leaves were just perfect peak! I had crossed the road to get the Lincoln highway sign, and snapped this as as I was walking back. Hard to see it, but the green sign is a "Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Do Not Litter," sign. I'd say Pennsylvania was sure beautiful this day! The Lord's handiwork was awesome and the colors took my breath away at times.

We love buffalo, so a stop at the Bison Corral, on Route 30 near Schellsburg, was on our itinerary for the day.

We let Riah take his play gun. He loves to play the Oregon Trail game these days (the ages twelve and up version, go figure...my genius son) On the game, you can hunt for buffalo, so here he is with his gun ready!

I would love to have a buffalo skull someday, but where does one put a buffalo skull? Hmmmm...

We wanted to get some jerky, but they were out. I settled for buffalo slim jim thingys. The were softer to chew, but the same flavor. I think I actually like them better than jerky.

Our first "u-e" of the day, backtracking to get the brick work on this barn near McConellsburg.

Of course, we knew Riah would love the gun section of the Visitor Center Museum at Gettysburg National Military Park.

He said, "Look dad, that one there looks really sharp!"

Riah is always drawn to electronic displays of any type. He will watch a whole documentary, just to be able to push the "Play" button again! Here he learned about cannons.

The Visitor Center parking lot was very full, so we parked along this curb in the lot. When we got out, we noticed this sign. Honestly, we didn't knock it over!
